Caroe Architecture Ltd, is delighted to announce the selection of their multi-disciplinary team for the delivery of an exciting £8.5million HLF-supported project at St Marylebone Church, London.
The existing building dates from 1814 to a design by Thomas Hardwick and is Listed Grade I. In the 1980s and 90s the Crypt was developed to accommodate a medical centre. The St Marylebone Changing Lives project now seeks to build upon the success of the Church and provide new community facilities through enlargement of the crypt space to the east side. The scheme, which is in the early stages of development, will also provide a new pavilion entrance, opening onto the public gardens, and will address repairs to and conservation of the Grade 1 listed historic building,
Caroe Architecture Ltd has been working with St Marylebone since 2013 and developed the initial scheme proposals on which the HLF Round 1 grant approval was awarded. Oliver Caroe is the inspecting architect to the historic church.
Key players in the team include Alan Baxter (Structures), CBG Consultants (M&E Services), Luke Hughes and Co (Interiors) and Robert Myers Associates (Landscape), all of whom attended the recent competitive interview with Oliver, Mark & Touseer (pictured!).
Oliver Caroe said, “I am more than delighted that Caroe Architecture Ltd and our supporting team have been chosen in the face of stiff competition for the Changing Lives project for St Marylebone, the Parish congregation and the community. It has been a real privilege, over the past four years, to have played a part in developing and giving form to the vision for the church; seeing ideas take root and then flourish into the successful HLF bid, and we look forward to delivering the project in partnership with the Parish and the London Diocese”.
